The ball arced up into the sunlight and dropped perfectly into his mitt.
It was reminiscent of every pop fly since Branch Rickey - except for one thing.
The arm that threw back the ball wasn't an arm at all.
The vaporous form of an arm fired a perfect strike to the catcher to complete the double play.

It was 2.2 miles from Kyle's office to his apartment - if he walked through the park.
He walked because his wife had left him and took the Camry.
Today the snow seemed to be blowing in his face no matter which way he turned.
This was a favourite party trick of the assembled weather gods.

Most of the parts were scavenged from fighter jets lost during World War IV.
The escape vehicle was built from two nuclear missiles.
They scavenged some sharp looking stripes from a 70's station wagon - those were just for looks.
This was the ship that was going to make humanity's first run at warp speed.
